Each project is quoted individually based on the information you already hold and the research required. Many records are now freely available online, helping to keep costs down.
To be completely transparent, your budget is split into two clear categories:
1. Direct Expenses: If official birth, marriage, or death certificates are needed, I will explain why they are important and what they may reveal. You only pay the exact cost of the document from the registry. The decision to purchase is always yours.
2. My Research Time: For extensive line tracking, solving family puzzles, or hunting complex EU records, I charge £25 per hour.
How the budget works:
We agree on a strict maximum ceiling block of hours at the start (for example, 10 hours). To keep you fully informed, I provide a formal progress review at 50% usage (e.g., 5 hours). This allows us to look at the findings so far and confirm you are happy with the direction before the remaining time is used. I will never go over our agreed limit without your explicit permission -
Is this an Immigration Visa Service?
No. I am a genealogical researcher, not an immigration adviser or lawyer.
My role is strictly limited to historical and documentary research—helping you find, trace, and verify the physical family certificates and lineages you need.
While these historical documents are often required to support an application for citizenship by descent, I cannot complete application forms, interpret nationality laws, or guarantee any legal outcomes. All legal or eligibility questions must be directed to a qualified professional or the relevant embassy.

Getting started is simple. Get in touch using the contact form or by email and tell me what you already know, what you hope to discover, and any family documents or information you're willing to share.
I will talk through the possibilities together and decide whether there's a clear route for the research before any work begins.

Every family deserves the same standard of research, whether you're preserving a family story or exploring a possible claim to citizenship by descent.
Genealogy has been a lifelong passion, and for more than seventeen years I've researched family histories for friends, relatives and private clients. Some projects have simply been about discovering a family's story. Others have involved sensitive adoption and care histories, reconnecting lost relatives, or tracing European ancestry.
I deliberately take on only a very small number of projects each year. That allows me to give every piece of research the time, care and attention it deserves. My approach is evidence-led, professional and thorough, following the records wherever they lead rather than making assumptions or relying on unverified online family trees.

Complete the contact form and tell me about your family history project. Whether you're starting from scratch, trying to solve a long-standing mystery, or have reached a genealogy 'brick wall', I'd love to hear from you. Include any information you already have and let me know whether you'd prefer to be contacted by email or telephone.
I'll make an initial assessment and let you know whether I think there's a worthwhile line of enquiry.
There are many reasons people begin this journey.
Some wish to reconnect with a part of their identity.
Some want to preserve their family's history before it disappears.
Others simply feel proud to be British, asking the inevitable “how far do we go back?”, whilst also recognising that Britain's story has always been intertwined with the rest of Europe and indeed the world.
There is no right or wrong reason.
My role is not to persuade you to look beyond where you want to go, or that you should seek another nationality.
My role is simply to help you discover the facts about your own family history, explain what documentary evidence exists, and where appropriate, help identify the records that can be shared amongst your family, or may support an application for citizenship by descent.
